Jessica's Top 10 Photo's of August 2021

Once a month our creative team gathers together to look through that month’s photoshoots.

It is an inspiring evening where we  give each other feedback,  hear the amazing stories of our clients and create new Ideas for the next month.

Each of our photographers will share their favourites from that month, here are Jessica’s…

My favourite photos from August 2021…

This month I choose images that have a similar colour theme of Red.

Red for me is the colour of love and passion, confidence and courage, danger, and blood.

The striking pop of red enhances the sensual power of women, creating dramatic artistic images that demand you to look at them for longer.

I love to incorporate red in my photoshoots through silky fabric, lingerie, lipstick, roses and of course our sexy ‘red room’.

1. red priestess.

I draped this gauzy fabric over our nude lady, with the pose referencing religious artworks from history, she is transformed into a priestess or perhaps a sacrificial bride. her direct eye contact holds the viewer gaze, there is an air of dark mystery to her.

2. angel transformation.

Wings and lingerie are a powerful combination for boudoir photography. Transforming women into angels, symbolising the power we all keep inside ourselves. With this portrait I used a red gel lighting as a backlight to enhance the silhouette of the wings, the red overtones giving her more of a darker demonic character.

3. queen of the underworld.

This costume certainly creates a dramatic statement, with Venetian lace detailing and Baroque Vampire overtones, she is the queen of the underworld.

4.  the power of fabric.

You don’t need elaborate costumes to create beautiful portraits, a length of silk is a useful tool. We can wrap the fabric into a togaesque gown or create flowy shapes by throwing it into the wind.

This portrait the fabric is flying behind her almost like wings, revealing just enough of her back to hint at the nudity underneath.

5. leather + lingerie.

To create a sexy portrait, you can’t go wrong with leather and lingerie. This portrait I used silhouette lighting to create a rim of light running down the curves of her body and added just enough shadows to conceal her stomach.  Playing with contrasty lighting, shadows, and the pop of red in her lingerie, I think this image is Sexy and Mysterious.

6. Body scapes.

With her chest pressing through the fabric of the body suit and rim lighting to enhance shapes, this closeup is very sexy indeed.

7. a simple nude.

A classic but powerful nude, the silk draping gently off her body and her powerful over the shoulder look. Sometimes simplicity is the key to beautiful portraits.

8. strength & vulnerability.

Vulnerability is so often mistaken for weakness. When we photograph, we show strength within vulnerability and that it takes courage to be vulnerable. Vulnerability is where we discover ourselves and find out power.

9. red velvet.

Our red room is a playful set where we can use the curtains to create mystery, is she unveiling herself? or about to lead us somewhere?  The lush red velvet creates a beautiful texture, especially when printed onto our fine art paper, the images look luxurious.

10. movement.

Throwing your head back and flipping your hair around is a great way to add movement and drama to an image, to me she looks wild, uninhibited, and sexy, posed in such a way to elongate the lines of her body.

11. vintage.

A bonus photo for my monthly favourites.    I loved her red hair and vintage floral dress, as a Professional florist she brought along a beautiful bouquet of lilies, to create this romantic portrait.

See you next month
