7 Simple posing tips to help you look good in photos

Everyone faces fears in their life and for some women a glamour photography session is the scariest thing they could ever imagine.

Whether this is your first time or you are a professional model, it is normal to feel nervous about how to pose.

Do not worry, we will help you! Our photographers know how to guide you through flattering poses for your body shape and personality. We guide you in such a way, that by the end of your session you will feel like a superstar!

Here are a few simple posing tips to get you started…

1. Breathing & Posture

A lot of our nerves and anxiety is held in our shoulders. Think about your posture when you are nervous or anxious, you don’t want to look to stiff, so relax your shoulders down and remember to breath!

It might sound so simple but taking a calming deep breath in and out can be the best thing to feel more relaxed and will automatically relax your body.

2. Hands

Hands are so expressive and can convey a lot of attitude and personality.

You might be feeling a little shaky and that’s okay, shaky hands won’t show up on camera.

A good tip is to keep loose by shaking your hands out and then imagining your fingers are long and heavy to elongate them.

3. NO Double chinS!

No one wants a double chin in their photos!

To create more definition push your jaw forward (like a turtle) to stretch your neck and tilt slightly down to create a shadow that will contour. It might feel uncomfortable at first but can pay off big time!

Pro tip!  Tilting your head to the side can also accent your cheekbones!

4. NATURAL SmileS

We want to avoid the fake, cheesy smiles. It’s better to have a calm natural face then anything too stressed.

A natural smile is a beautiful thing, a photoshoot should be a fun experience and our photographers know a lot of corny jokes to make you laugh.

Own your awkwardness and laugh about it!  Sometimes the bloopers are our clients favourite photos are they capture natural joyful moments.

5. Slimming YOUR WAIST

If you stand front on to the camera with your hips forward, you’re at your widest. To create a sliming effect simply turn slightly to the side and push your hips away from the camera, this will slim your waist and will also accentuate the curves of your hips in a flattering way.

6. Slimming YOUR ARMS

Try not to press your forearms close against your torso, this will flatten your arm to look wider. Instead pull your elbow away from your body to slim your arm.

7. SLIMMING YOUR hips

We love hips!  They are a great way to give a photo more attitude, push your hips to one side to add more sass to your images.

When putting your hands on your hips, a lot of people put their hands on the lower hips which is the widest part. Instead put your hands above your hips, this will elongate your legs and also accentuate the smaller part of your waist.
