Planning your photoshoot is part of the experience, and it's often where the excitement really begins. Think of yourself as the art director for your photoshoot.
One of the tasks we ask every woman to do after booking her Zest Photography experience is to send us inspiration images via email. While it might seem like a small step in the booking process, it actually plays a huge role in helping us create a photoshoot that feels personal, intentional and uniquely yours.
Every woman who comes into our studio has her own style and vision, even if she doesn't realise it yet. The photos you choose give us a glimpse into your personal taste and help us understand the mood, styling and overall feel you're hoping to achieve.
What's interesting is that these choices are often subconscious. You might not be able to explain exactly why you love particular images, but if you keep saving photos with similar lighting, colours or styling, those patterns tell us a lot. There are no right or wrong choice, it is simply about discovering what speaks to you.
With so many beautiful images on our website, it can sometimes feel impossible to narrow them down. Rather than trying to plan every detail, simply start saving the images that make you stop scrolling. Don't overthink it. The more you collect, the easier it becomes to recognise the styles you're naturally drawn to.
Before your session, we print these inspiration pictures out and your photographer uses them during your pre-shoot consultation. Together we'll go through the images, talk about what you love about each one and discuss how we can recreate that feeling while making it uniquely yours. Sometimes it's the background that catches your eye, sometimes it's the lighting, the wardrobe or simply the emotion in the image.
Having those examples in front of us helps us prepare the right lighting setups, choose suitable backdrops and start building a creative plan before your photoshoot even begins, it simply gives us the best possible starting point.

As creative people, we do our best work when we're inspired, and your inspiration images are exactly that. Once you're in the studio, your photographer will guide every pose and make adjustments throughout the session.
