Karli's Story

Karli’s life changed in an instant and she had lost herself. our team wanted to know why, after separating from her ex she needed to rediscover herself in a boudoir photography experience. We asked her a few questions to understand what she experienced before her photoshoot, during and after and how she changed.

“I was a step mum to two beautiful girls so I was always the one behind the camera. I became all about looking after them and my ex instead of also looking after me.”

How did you feel before your experience? Did you have any concerns?

I was so excited to receive such a photography experience, but then I became so nervous. I had never had photographs taken of me in this kind of environment before.

What made you realize you needed to do this and what was important to you about having a photoshoot?

I was a step mum to two beautiful girls so I was always the one behind the camera. I became all about looking after them and my ex instead of also looking after me. This photoshoot really empowered me to step out of the box and remind myself that I am strong and beautiful in my own unique way.

What was the main reason for your photoshoot?

I was married for 8 years and had two beautiful step daughters. Last year my ex and I separated and I began a journey that I never expected to be doing at 30 years old.
This photoshoot really helped me feel gorgeous and sexy and I hadn't felt those feelings in so long. I felt like it was the perfect time in my journey to do this for myself and bring a bit of self love to myself.

How did you feel during your photography shoot? What feelings came up for you?

To begin with I was like a fish out of water. I felt so uncoordinated and kind of felt silly. Adriana made me feel so comfortable and we were laughing like old friends not long after.
Some of my favourite photos are the ones where I am laughing at one of our jokes or giggling.

Our saucier photos or poses initially I felt a little embarrassed, but a few shots in I was loving myself and the process. TRUST THE PROCESS!!!

“Once we were done I felt so proud and courageous for doing something I would never have done before - go nude! It was exhilarating and I felt so powerful afterwards.”

How did this impact on your confidence and view of yourself?

It really changed the way I looked at myself and what I thought of myself. Sure, I still look in the mirror and there's things I don't like... but then I look at the beautiful piece of art above my bed and check out that hot goddess nudes I have and remember that I'm awesome and beautiful. I would never have thought that previously.

How did you feel after your photography shoot and when you saw the photos of yourself?

Oh jeez, I was so overwhelmed. So many times I said, "Is that actually me?!" I sat there in so much amazement that Adriana had captured so many incredible moments and I felt so beautiful.

What does it mean to you to have these photos for life and how will you be displaying your photos?

I have an incredible large piece of my nudes that sits above my bedroom. Gary said it perfectly to me, "Anyone who is in your bedroom will be worthy to see those photos" and it just resonated with me. I also have a gorgeous album that’s displayed on a book case

What would you say to women in the same position to you and not sure if they should have their own experience?

Do it! Jump in and let all those insecurities and fears go.
You are worthy, you are strong and you are beautiful.
Now let these incredible people capture it xx
